Max Lucado ‘s Wemmicks: You Are Special

Max Lucado ‘s Wemmicks: You Are Special

THE WEMMICKS were small wooden people. All of the wooden people were carved by a woodworker named Eli. His workshop sat on a hill overlooking their village. Each Wemmick was different. Some had big noses, others had large eyes. Some were tall and others were short. Some wore hats, others wore coats. But all were made by the same carver and all lived in the village.

And all day, every day, the Wemmicks did the same thing: They gave each other stickers. Each Wemmick had a box of golden star stickers  and a box of gray dot stickers .

Up and down the streets all over the city, people spent their days sticking stars or dots on one another. The pretty ones, those with smooth wood and fine paint, always got stars. But if the wood was rough or the paint chipped, the Wemmicks gave dots.

The talented ones got stars, too. Some could lift big sticks high above their heads or jump over tall boxes. Still others knew big words or could sing pretty songs.
Everyone gave them stars. Some Wemmicks had stars all over them!

Every time they got a star, it made them feel so good! It made them wants to do something else and get another star. Others, though, could do little. They got dots.

Punchinello was one of these. He tried to jump high like the others, but he always fell. And when he fell, the others would gather around and give him dots.

Sometimes when he fell, his wood got scratched, so the people would give him more dots. Then when he would try to explain why he fell, he would say something silly, and the Wemmicks would give him more dots.

After a while he had so many dots that he didn't want to go outside. He was afraid he would do something dumb such as forget his hat or step in the water, and then people would give him another dot.

In fact, he had so many gray dots that some people would come up and give him one for no reason at all.

"He deserves lots of dots," the wooden people would agree with one another. "He's not a good wooden person."

After a while, Punchinello believed them. "I'm not a good Wemmick," he would say. The few times he went outside, he hung around other Wemmicks who had a lot of dots. He felt better around them.

One day he met a Wemmick who was unlike any he'd ever met. She had no dots or stars. She was just wooden.

Her name was Lucia. It wasn't that people didn't try to give her stickers; it's just that the stickers didn't stick.

Some of the Wemmicks admired Lucia for having no dots, so they would run up and give her a star. But it would fall off. Others would look down on her for having no stars, so they would give her a dot. But it wouldn't stay either.

That's the way I want to be, thought Punchinello. I don't want anyone's marks. So he asked the stickerless Wemmick how she did it.

"It's easy," Lucia replied.

"Every day I go see Eli."

"Eli?"

"Yes, Eli. The woodcarver. I sit in the workshop with him."

"Why?"

"Why don t you find out for yourself? Go up the hill. He's there."

"But will he want to see me?" Punchinello cried out. Lucia did not hear. So Punchinello went home. He sat near a window and watched the wooden people as they scurried around giving each other stars and dots.

"It's not right," he muttered to himself. And he decided to go see Eli.

He walked up the narrow path to the top of the hill and stepped into the big shop. His wooden eyes widened at the size of everything. The stool was as tall as he was. He had to stretch on his tiptoes to see the top of the workbench.

A hammer was as long as his arm. Punchinello swallowed hard.

"I'm not staying here!" and he turned to leave. Then he heard his name.

"Punchinello?" The voice was deep and strong. Punchinello stopped.

"Punchinello! How good to see you. Come and let me have a look at you."

Punchinello turned slowly and looked at the large bearded craftsman.

"You know my name?" the little  Wemmick asked.

"Of course I do. I made you."

Eli stooped down, picked him up, and set him on the bench. "Hmm," the maker spoke thoughtfully as he looked at the gray dots.

"Looks like you've been given some bad marks."

"I didn't mean to, Eli. I really tried hard."

"Oh, you don't have to defend yourself to me, child. I don't care what the other Wemmicks think."

"You don't?"

"No, and you shouldn't either. Who are they to give stars or dots? They are Wemmicks just like you. What they think doesn't matter, Punchinello. All that matters is what I think. And I think you are pretty special."

Punchinello laughed. "Me, special? Why? I can't walk fast. I can't jump. My paint is peeling. Why do I matter to you?"

Eli looked at Punchinello, put his hands on those small wooden shoulders, and spoke very slowly.

"Because you are mine. That's why you matter to me."

Punchinello had never had anyone look at him like this - much less his maker. He didn't know what to say.

"Every day I've been hoping you'd come", Eli explained.

"I came because I met someone who had no marks," said Punchinello, "I know. She told me about you."

"Why don't the stickers stay on her?"

The maker spoke softly.

"Because she has decided that what I think is more important than what they think. The stickers only stick if you let them."

"What?"

"The stickers only stick if they matter to you. The more you trust my love, the less you care about their stickers."

"I'm not sure I understand."

Eli smiled. "You will, but it will take time. You've got a lot of marks. For now, just come to see me every day and let me remind you how much I care." Eli lifted Punchinello off the bench and set him on the ground.

"Remember," Eli said as the Wemmick walked out the door, "you are special because I made you. And I don t make mistakes."

Punchinello did not stop, but in his heart he thought, I think he really means it.

And when he did, a dot fell to the ground.

True, isn’t it??

Go find time to meet your creator everyday and slowly, slowly you will find yourself going through the process of purification …and finally one day…you are all clean…resurrected….   People will keep giving you names, labels and theories…but what matters is, Do you believe in it?

THE INVISIBLE WOUNDS OF A WARRIOR

The Invisible Wounds of a Warrior

The warrior-warrior!
He’s a deadly warrior!

His name is well known in the popular circles!

He is celebrated, admired, and talked about by many.

He is surrounded by people all the time yet no one understands the loneliness he goes through.

He seems to have many friends that claim to love him to pieces, but what he really has are fans who simply adore him. It seems like communication is a piece of cake to him yet there are really only a few who really (at least partially) understand him.

You’re probably wondering that who could I possibly be talking about.

Well, I am talking about the warriors in the body of Christ. They could be prayer warriors, pastors, worship leaders or cell leaders.

If there is one job that by no means is easy, it is certainly to live a life of service.

It is that one job where one day you will hear “Hosanna” and another day hear the words, “Crucify!”

The wounds of a warrior are much.

They are the invisible wounds of a soldier fighting for everything and everyone except for themselves. They barely find time to heal. They cannot wait. They must move on. In the process, they bleed from time to time. But it’s rarely seen.

Many a times, their only encouragement is the presence and life of Jesus.

One day, my pastor had to deal with a prominent preacher who had gone through a certain scandalous situation. He began to seek God for wisdom to handle it rightly. The Lord spoke to my pastor who had served in the army in the past.

The nation has Red-cross and many exclusive organizations and army hospitals to treat the wounded soldiers of war but my church has none.” (Paraphrased)

We are quick to praise a man to fame and even quicker to pull him down from that pedestal. No wonder God sticks up for His prophets and men of God and says, “Do them no harm!” It was not because they were perfect. But because they were vessels that He chose to serve Him in His Kingdom.

 In fact:

God never chooses anyone who is perfect. We are all work-in-progress.

In fact, some of the greatest warriors in the Bible had some terrible flaws. Yet they went back to God, wept before Him and acknowledged that it was not for their name but for the people that God had chosen them.

Let us also not forget that they face the highest attacks of all sorts from the enemy who knows that these men and women of God serve as high risks to the kingdom of the devil!

How do you treat the warriors of God?

Are you too quick to pass judgement and look down on them? They are as human as they are. They have their own egos, strengths, weaknesses and frustrations that they put down in surrender before God for their love for Jesus and to serve you.

Today or in the future, when you find a warrior (wounded or well), would you take a minute to appreciate, encourage and show them a little of God’s love? May be your email, sms, phone call or a prayer will bring healing to their invisible wounds.

Let our generation be different.

I pray that you would reap the honour you sow and may the love of the Lord rest upon you and your generations to come.

Peace.

Discuss: Do you know about your leader’s sacrifices? How have you treated your warriors in your life and in your church? How have you learnt to honour them?

LIFE & LOVE

Life can never be easy, no matter how rich or poor you are. It stays same to everyone but sometimes it depends on the choices we make in life. Good decisions and bad decisions! We just go on till the heart beat stops. But what is it that keeps us alive though we want to die or many times you might try to kill yourself. The answer is divine, and the one who find it will find life. That's what happens ,im glad i found what i need to find and also simple truth that can make life but people ignore to devastate themselves for nothing. All these years might not be good, struggling living against the world but at least im having a good fight and hope is all we have. And it pays off,finally..all your past strikes your heart but u can't fall for it coz now you are a stronger than ever to defeat the fears you already passed through. Now all you have is new life, refreshing thoughts and peaceful time with your loved ones.

Love is so important, once it given ,very hard to take it back. Love is heart filled with feelings and emotions. To this generation, love is the last thing that stays in your heart. Im lucky and blessed to find Love of GOD which completes me. And i must add whatever comes from him is great blessing....a father who stops drinking because of health issue, a mother who do daily sacrifices to look after you, a brother who raises you like a daughter, grany who gave and spend all her treasure on us, and a prayerful husband who comes from GOD. These all are my miracles in my life and this is how a lonely, devastating, burdened, insulted, blamed, foolish, sinful person's life can be changed after the repentance, fasting, prayers, devotion and surrender to GOD and this is how the LOVE of GOD showers on you.

LIFE & LOVE is full of surprises.....Miracles can happen if you believe in true GOD, MY LORD JESUS. HE saves the one who comes to him with repentance and belief. He will surely take away all your burdens and can save you from HELL. I LOVE YOU JESUS.THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!

Man Builds Cat-Sized Village for Homeless Cats

Craig Grant doesn't like cats. But that all changed when his son moved out, leaving his cat Pepper behind. And just when Craig was getting used to having one cat, he found out Pepper was pregnant. Five kittens later, Craig was ready to adopt them out until his son said they must stay with their mother for 8 weeks. "It wasn't long before the kittens were swinging from my curtains," he notes on his website.
The cats started to be a problem for Craig. Not only were neighbors complaining but the cats were being harassed, like being shot with B.B. guns. A newspaper advertisement led him to a tree farm 100 miles away from his Jacksonville condo.

He wasn't quite ready to give up his home, with its short walk to the beach and close proximity to his work, but he immediately fell in love with the tree farm and bought 30 acres, where he quickly erected an office trailer as a cat shelter. It had pet doors, padded shelving for long cat naps. The sanctuary is in the middle of 100 acres of wildlife.
Craig and the Cats

Craig moved there himself in 2003. By that time he had 11 cats, after adopting both strays and abandoned cats. By 2004, he had 22 cats. As you can tell by these pictures, he now has quite a few more than 22.
"We [currently] have 660 cats, we have barely touched on the first 5 acres of the 30 acres of land," says Craig. But that many cats in one location comes with serious concerns. Outdoor cats definitely affect bird populations to the measure of being an invasive species.

All of the expenses for the sanctuary have come out of Craig's pocket and he even travels 250 miles roundtrip to work many times a day to keep the cats safe and cared for. Because each cat costs about $550 a year to tend to, and that is without extraneous vet bills. For all cats are spayed or neutered, and their shots are kept up to date.

And while Caboodle Ranch is beyond cute, it is also hard work. Craig puts in 14-plus hours a day. The ranch's biggest challenge is finding dedicated volunteers. The novelty of the sanctuary surely attracts visitors, about 30 or so each month, but they don't always stick around.
But don't go to Caboodle Ranch looking for a pet. The cats are not up for adoption. "The reason the cats are there in the first place is that there were not enough homes [for them]. The cats at the ranch have their forever home now. We prefer people adopt cats from humane societies, animal control etc, where those cats are on death row and are in desperate need to be saved," says Craig.
